PT SOHO Industri Pharmasi Named First Runner-Up at Innovation Award “Anugerah Industri Inovatif 2020”

PT SOHO Industri Pharmasi named first Runner-Up in Innovation Award called “Anugerah Industri Inovatif 2020” held by the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Research and Innovation Agency (Kemristek / BRIN). The Award is a form of government appreciation for industrial research and development activities in Indonesia and for SOHO, we have granted this innovation award three (3) times in a row. Previously in 2018 and 2019 SOHO received the IIRDI Award, an award similar to this Anugerah Industri Inovatif from the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

The award was given for SOHO's commitment to developing herbal innovation in Indonesia. SOHO is considered active and consistent in conducting research and development activities both internally through the R&D unit and by utilizing and developing R&D results from various research institutions/universities, through ABGC collaboration (Academic, Business, Government, Community) to produce innovative and competitive products. It is proven that the innovation of SOHO products is the market leader in various therapeutic class categories. In addition, SOHO is also considered as superior and become a pioneer in the application of technology, information and communication-based innovations in industrial technology 4.0 and researchers from SOHO also active in developing scientific research and publishes them through various publications in local and international scientific journals.

The virtual ceremony “Anugerah Industri Inovatif 2020” was opened by remarks from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. On this occasion, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of developing research-based innovation in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Minister of Research and Technology / National Research and Innovation Agency (Menristek / BRIN), Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro in his remarks stated that collaboration betw een the Government, Higher Education, Industry and the community is needed in realizing innovation so that it can be produced and become an export commodity. As directed by President Jokowi to Menristek/BRIN, it is important to learn from the Covid-19 pandemic so that innovation in research, development, testing and implementation will focus on: national readiness and resilience, Covid-19 vaccine, local production of medical devices and medicines, also the importance of wellness and sustainability from the national readiness of medical devices and medicines, including herbal development in Indonesia.

Herbal in Indonesia are developed from Standardized Herbal Medicines (Obat Herbal Terstandar/ “OHT”) which have passed pre-clinical trials and from also Phytopharmaceuticals which have passed clinical trials so that they have equivalent medicinal efficacy. Based on data from the Food and Drug Administration (Badan POM), currently there are 92 OHTs registered according to the Distribution Permit Number (Nomor Ijin Edar / ”NIE”). Meanwhile for Phytopharmaceuticals, currently there are 37 NIE registered.

Anugerah Industri Inovatif is the highest award given to business/industrial entities for the successful implementation of innovation that can generate added value, both in commercial, economic and socio-cultural aspects.
